The Reason restaurant is located on the top floor of the iconic Masaryčka building by Zaha Hadid in Prague. It was conceived as a high-end fine dining venue, with a focus on material purity and functional coherence.
A key feature of the space is the ceiling. It is organized in a grid of wooden beams and voids. The alternating closed and open segments of the wooden ceiling cladding create depth and emphasize the rhythm of the space. The visible ductwork introduces a slightly industrial touch, offering a contrast to the otherwise natural materials. The wood of the ceiling extends down the columns, creating unified vertical and horizontal elements.
The bar is divided into two parts: One area is dedicated to drinks, clad in triangular tiles and framed by a suspended metal wine rack. The other serves as a kitchen pass, finished in marble and topped with an organic, airy metal structure on the ceiling.
Crowning the bar is a "hat" lined with the same triangular mirrored tiles found on its façade, reinforcing a sense of visual continuity.
The large glass surfaces are framed with metal elements that serve a dual purpose: they enhance sound absorption and reduce light reflections inside the space.
Lighting is integrated into organically shaped metal ceiling structures. The furniture is minimal, with neutral textures and tones, emphasizing clean geometry and functionality.
The outdoor area serves as an extension of the main dining hall and functions as a lounge. A diamond-shaped bar takes advantage of the building’s corner, while discreet lighting — using the same hanging metal fixtures as in the interior — is integrated into the planted areas, which also act as dividers between seating zones.
