Ask4

Ask4 is located on the ground floor of the iconic Masaryčka building by Zaha Hadid in Prague, at a site that will soon be integrated into an under-construction transport hub. The design serves a dual function: short stays (take-away) and seated dining (bistrot).

The load-bearing pillars of the space are clad with ceramic tiles in a vivid yellow color, featuring visible grout lines. Behind the seating areas, wooden panels are incorporated with green-grey textured applications and metallic decorative lines in art-deco patterns.

The central counter is clad with vertically arranged dark green tiles. Behind it, the open kitchen surface serves as a backdrop for the menu, which is applied directly onto the same tiles and framed by a neon light sign displaying the store’s logo. On the same backdrop, a suspended metal structure with an industrial aesthetic is integrated, functioning as a shelving system for storage and product display.

The seating zones are framed by fixed custom diamond-shaped sofas upholstered in red fabric, along with small dining tables. They are defined by auxiliary furniture—waiter stations with integrated planting on the upper surfaces.

The ceiling is formed by a wooden grid that conceals and organizes the mechanical and electrical systems. Lighting consists of hidden indirect light, cylindrical wall sconces, and hanging spherical fixtures above the seating areas.

The space’s aesthetic evokes a contemporary European station with references to retro-futurism, through the contrast of geometric tiles, clean metallic elements, and bold color choices, combined with custom furniture and a strong neon lighting visual identity.
