Koukounari

KOUKOUNARI

Koukounari is a greek word for the cone of the Pine tree. Because of the Pine tree that is located in the front of the restaurant, the owners decided to give the restaurant the falling cones that they found in front of it.

The Koukounari is located in Holargos a northern area of Athens. It is placed in front of the Mesogeion Boulevard witch is a high way street. The problem was that because of the high speed of the cars, the costumers were passing by the existing restaurant. So the issue was to create an impressive outdoor fence wall trying to cover also the in front yard.

The idea was to create a wall fence similar to especially designed metal library. The library is constructed from metal beams that are used to reinforce the concrete in the construction sites. Emty spaces are filled with wooden boxes and some lights made of Plexiglas. Some of the wooden boxes are filed with plants. The floor of the restaurant was painted in grey white squared tiles.
