In a historical building in the center of Athens, constructed around in 1850 and used like an traditional handmade umbrella factory ,a very elegant all day café bistro is designed.
Arthens is located in one of the most important pedestrian streets of the city Athens called Aiolou street, which leads from the Omonoia Square to the Acropolis, seeing all the way down the view of the Parthenon through walking.
The building is a 4 floor building , with a basement. In the ground floor are the café and the restaurant designed, and in the 1st floor is the bar. In the the roof of the builing with the Acropolis view , the client is planning to construct an open wine roof top bar. The high pedestrian traffic in front of the café , gave us the inspiration to make design a café that is open from very early in the morning and during the day it can be transformed to an chic and elegant restaurant bistro. The main design idea was to respect the old neoclassical style of the building and keep the atmosphere of the old Athenian-style cafe where writers poets and artist were meeting.
